WASHINGTON, DC - The DC Chapter of Log Cabin Republicans recently voted to endorse the the four candidates who are running for the Republican nomination for City Council. Those candidates are Marc Morgan, Ward 1; David Hedgepeth, Ward 3; Tim Day, Ward 5; and Jim DeMartino, Ward 6. The vote occurred after the Board of Directors unanimously voted to endorse the candidates.

The national anti-incumbency wave is hitting Republicans and Democrats alike.
In recent primary elections, discontented voters kicked both veteran Sen. Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania Democrat, and freshman Rep. Parker Griffith, Alabama Republican, out of Washington. D.C. Republicans are hoping similar sentiment makes its way inside the city limits, where Republicans are trying to unseat Democrats in four D.C. Council races.

(Washington, DC, May 19, 2010) Jim DeMartino, the Republican candidate for the Ward 6 seat on DC Council, chastised DC Council for failing to take a stand on the 680 fee and fine increases proposed by Mayor Fenty.
“Councilmen are patting themselves on the back this morning for dodging a controversial bullet,” said DeMartino, “but what they really did is show to everyone in this city that they are not willing to take responsibility—they are not willing to do the job we pay them to do.”

(Washington, DC, April 26, 2010) Jim DeMartino, the Republican candidate for the Ward 6 seat on DC Council , released a statement today opposing DC Council's April 20th vote to legalize so-called "medicinal" marijuana, in legislation titled the Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Treatment Initiative Amendment Act of 2010. The act passed its first vote through DC Council 13-0.
